Two volunteers showing love to a shelter dog.

Pet Circle Waco is always looking for compassionate individuals to lend a helping hand. Our volunteers are essential in providing love, care, and companionship to the animals in the animal center.

Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of animals in our community.

How You Can Help

  • Animal care: Feeding, walking, grooming, and socializing animals.
  • Cleaning and maintenance: Kennel cleaning and helping keep the center clean and sanitized.
  • Administrative support: Assisting with clerical tasks, such as data entry.

Youth Volunteer Guidelines

At Pet Circle, we love welcoming young animal lovers who want to make a difference. To ensure a safe and enriching experience, we have specific guidelines for youth volunteers based on age. Please read the following carefully before signing up.

Orientation Requirement
All youth volunteers (ages 10 to 17) must attend a volunteer orientation session with their parent or legal guardian before beginning any volunteer activities. This ensures both the youth and adults are prepared and informed.

Ages 10 to 11
  • Must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
  • May assist with non-animal handling tasks such as:
    • Laundry
    • Washing dishes
    • Cleaning
    • Greeting customers
    • Participating in special events
Ages 12 to 15
  • Must also be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
  • May help with:
    • All non-animal handling tasks
    • Hands-on animal care, but only after both youth and parent/guardian complete animal handling training.
Ages 16 to 17
  • May volunteer independently with written parent/guardian consent after attending orientation and training with a parent/guardian. 16 and 17 year old volunteers are only able to perform animal-handling roles with green level dogs.
